Serbia has opened a tender for the installation of sixteen “green stations”with electric vehicle chargers on  motorways in the country. The winning company is expected to invest around 768 million dinars (6.6 million euro). The bid submission deadline is November 21.

The “Green station” project involves the construction and operation of supporting facilities along the highways at existing rest areas and parking lots. The call is for EV chargers, restaurants, service stations, shops and other elements.

It will be possible to install at least 80, and at most 320 chargers for electric cars, with at least two charging slots on each charger and with a minimum power of 150 kW per charger, stated the minister of transport, construction and infrastructure, Goran Vesic. According to him, there are currently around a hundred chargers for electric cars on the roads.

“It’s high time Serbian roads were equipped with more electric vehicle chargers and that the rest facilities are improved, because as there are more and more such vehicles in Europe, primarily foreign drivers will otherwise start avoiding our roads. Serbia aims to become a leader in the Balkans in e-mobility,” the infrastructure minister said.
