ChargePoint invests in technologie to enhance reliability EV Charging Stations

ChargePoint has announced a strategic investment in advanced technologies from the networking and information security sectors. The goal of this investment is to achieve nearly 100% reliability in their charging stations by integrating these technologies. In addition, ChargePoint plans to incorporate natural language processing, improved driver communications, and top-tier training certification to solidify its position as a leading player in the global EV charging domain.

The transition to electric mobility is happening at an accelerated pace, making the reliability of EV charging crucial. ChargePoint’s Network Operations Center (NOC) is specifically designed to ensure large-scale reliability and support the increasing adoption of EVs. The NOC will provide 24/7 proactive station monitoring, predictive analytics, and utilize machine learning to quickly detect station downtimes, resulting in enhanced charger uptime and faster incident responses.

ChargePoint’s network, which already has over 243,000 active charging ports and roaming partners, is designed for rapid scalability. To further improve the reliability of EV charging infrastructure, ChargePoint will launch a training program to certify electrical contractors responsible for installing and maintaining EV charging stations.

One important aspect that the industry currently lacks is a standardized measurement for uptime. ChargePoint has developed its own methodology, which measures uptime based on each charging port’s ability to provide energy. Currently, ChargePoint achieves around 96% uptime across its public network in North America and Europe. For ChargePoint Assure customers, a 98% annual station uptime guarantee is provided.
