The Luxembourg energy group Encevo takes over the management platform on which around 50,000 charging stations run from the Belgium charging station company Powerdale that went bankrupt recently.

The Belgian scale-up sold charging infrastructure and smart charging cables to private individuals and companies, but also operated the software to monitor a charging station park or to invoice the consumption of a charging point at an employee’s home to their employer.

A solution has been found for the latter activities. The Luxembourg energy group Encevo is taking over the management platform Nexxtmove, on which around 50,000 charging stations run, as well as the same number of charging cards for electric cars in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

In Belgium, about 850 companies use Nexxtmove to monitor their charging stations and electric company cars and to guarantee that the electricity bill reaches the right person.

Powerdale was founded in 2003 by Hugues Dhaeyer and has gained a reputation over the past ten years as one of the innovative players in the burgeoning Belgian market for charging stations for electric cars.

According to the latest available annual accounts, Powerdale achieved a turnover of 12.1 million euros in 2021 and the operating result plunged 1.3 million euros into the red. The loss carried forward amounted to 2.4 million euros. According to statements in the press, Powerdale grew to a turnover of 18.6 million euros last year. The company employed 45 people.
