EV charging company ePower raises 2 million euros for expansion plans

Irish electric vehicle charging company ePower said its latest funding round has raised €2m from private investors.

ePower said the oversubscribed funding round attracted support from a combination of new and existing investors, which it said is further evidence of the growing popularity of electric vehicles. The Cork-based firm said it plans to use this investment to fund further development of its product offering, as well as providing additional resources for its sales and marketing teams. The Cork-based company, which was founded in 2018, supplies and installs electric vehicle chargers in homes, businesses and the public buildings across the country.

During the year, ePower completed the installation of 90 EV charge points at 13 hotels around the country run by Windward Management. These hotels included the Radisson Blu Dublin Airport, Connemara Coast Hotel, Aghadoe Heights in Co Kerry and Harvey’s Point in Co Donegal.

John O’Keeffe, the company’s chief executive, said the combination of Government plans for electric cars and consumer sentiment around them makes this an exciting time for the industry. “The Government wants 940,000 electric vehicles on the road by 2030, so there will be huge demand for charger infrastructure in the near future. As well as that, the public is embracing EVs more and more so the challenge is to meet demand and offer the right solutions,” Mr O’Keeffe said.
